Ewin Murray

Ewin Murray is a guitarist and singer from Kilmarnock. His music career started at the age of 12 as a drummer, when along with two of his friends, he formed Psychobilly band, The Termites. The band played live across Europe for 11 years, recording the album ‘Overload’ and several singles.

Whilst studying at university, Ewin joined Bagsy as the drummer. The band enjoyed a level of success playing live around Scotland and recording a successful mini album, ‘People Like Different things’.

Following his university years, Ewin played in a variety of bands before re joining The Termites, who had reformed after 15 years apart, for a second spell of touring and recording. During this time they released their second album ‘Kicked in the Teeth’. It was during a tour in Germany, that Ewin and John discussed forming a ‘traditional Scottish band’. This was the embryonic stage of the Borland Ceilidh Band. Initially playing bodhran, Ewin swapped instruments to become the bands guitarist which he continues to be to date.

Ewin also works with unsigned bands, through 13 Deluxe Records in his own studio to develop them as studio artists.

Kevin Longmuir

Borland Ceilidh Band’s accordionist, Kevin Longmuir; with over 35 years experience of performing classical, traditional and contemporary music, has recorded and played with musicians as diverse as Ocean Colour Scene, Soweto Gospel Choir to The Pogues.

His travels have taken him from Shetland to New Zealand with appearances at many UK and international festivals.

Kevin plays with Junkman’s Choir, recording and performing their own compositions. He has also worked with schools to support music within the curriculum.

John C Grant

Traditional fiddle player, John C Grant, is one of Ayrshire’s most accomplished composers of Scottish traditional music. He has dedicated his entire adult life to a personal journey, capturing contemporary life within Ayrshire, Scotland, through the medium of traditional music.

A commitment to capture those moments in time - the people, the events and Ayrshire streets, before they are lost forever.

John has played with numerous bands throughout the years over a range of musical styles such as The Termites - ‘Kicked in the Teeth’, Stewart Bryden - ‘Silent Revolutions’, The Stumblers - ‘Remarkably Simple for Complex Individuals’, Roscoe Vacant and the Screichs - ‘The Wrong Shall Fail’, The Heeby Jeebys - ‘Seagull Sessions’ and many more.
