From television appearances on ITV Loose Women, This Morning and STV Riverside Show to festivals such as Scotland’s largest music festival TRNSMT, the Borland Ceilidh Band, from Kilmarnock and Irvine, are one of Scotland’s music and cultural gems.
Formed in 26 February 2011, the band are a three piece outfit with John C Grant on fiddle, Ewin Murray on guitar/vocals and Kevin Longmuir on accordion/vocals.
The Borland Ceilidh Band formed with the sole purpose of being an all inclusive ceilidh band with energetic traditional music. With a dance instructor on the dance floor before every dance, everyone can enjoy a ceilidh, no matter how many dances they know. The band pick the dances, and tempo, to suit the dancers so that the ceilidh remains inclusive and fun for all.
The band members have such varied musical experiences from African gospel to punk, psychobilly and blues, that our traditional arrangements, whilst rooted deeply to the Scottish idiom, spread across all walks of life. This is the full Scottish experience, no gimmicks, no cringe – this is Ayrshire culture at it’s finest.
The Borland Ceilidh Band always has an instructor on the dance floor to guide everyone through the steps before each dance so abolutely no experience of Scottish ceilidh dancing is required - We are a must for international guests to Scotland.
This is just one of the many reasons why the Borland Ceilidh Band is one of Scotland's most sought after ceilidh bands.
The Borland Ceilidh Band has been a registered company in Scotland (SC550166) since 2016. This is our seal of reliability and commitment to excellence.
